WeWeb is a visual editor first: a canvas, component tree, style panel, data binding and workflow builder, with hosted backend pieces behind it. An agent won't match that editor in one prompt, but it can build the small version: a JSON page spec, a React renderer with data binding, a rough drag-and-drop editor and a static export. For one app of your own, skip the builder and ask the agent for the app itself on Supabase or any REST API, which is usually faster than learning an editor.
Before you buildWeWeb's Free seat and Free cloud plan cost nothing. You only need Essential for code export and GitHub sync, so check whether your app fits 1,000 sessions a month first.
Build me a small visual builder for web front-ends to replace WeWeb. Requirements:
- TypeScript + pnpm workspace: `apps/studio` (React 19 + Vite) and `packages/runtime` (React), shared by
the editor canvas and the exported site. `pnpm dev` serves the studio on http://localhost:4880.
- A project is one JSON file, ./projects/<name>/project.json: pages (route plus a tree of components),
variables, data sources and workflows. Validate with `zod`; commit every save with `simple-git`.
- Components: Container (row or column, gap, padding), Text, Heading, Image, Button, Input, Select,
Form, plus Table and Repeater bound to a collection. Each has a props schema that drives the panel.
- Editor: component tree on the left with drag to reorder (`@dnd-kit/core`), the page in an iframe in
the middle with selection outlines and desktop, tablet and mobile widths, and a property and style
panel on the right. Styles are saved per breakpoint. Undo and redo through Immer patches.
- Binding: `{{ }}` expressions in any prop, evaluated with `jexl` against variables, route params and
the current repeater item.
- Data: REST sources (base URL and headers from .env) and Supabase (`@supabase/supabase-js`) with table
and filter pickers. Calls go through a small Fastify proxy so keys never reach the browser.
- Workflows: an action list per event: call a source, set a variable, navigate, show a toast, if/else.
- Export: `pnpm export <name>` builds a static site with Vite into ./dist/<name> using the same runtime,
plus a Fastify server file for the proxy routes the project uses.
- Single user. No accounts, no telemetry, local-first.
- Out of scope: hosted database, sign-in for end users, plugins, real-time collaboration, AI generation.
- README: the project JSON format, how to add a component, how to deploy the export, and a warning that
the editor will be rough: budget iterations for drag and drop and for responsive styles.Opens your agent with the prompt filled in, you press enter. Or copy it and paste it into an empty folder.
The first prompt builds the core. Run these one at a time in the same folder to grow it into your own WeWeb.
Extend the visual builder in this folder. Requirements: - Keep the undo and redo stack per project in IndexedDB (`idb`), capped at 200 patches. - Show a history panel listing the last 50 changes with a label such as "Moved Button 3"; clicking one restores that state without dropping newer entries. - Group typing in a prop field into one entry per second of pause. - Add tests for apply, undo, redo and restore on a project with three pages. - Update the README.
Add end-user sign-in to the visual builder in this folder. Requirements: - A project setting "Auth provider" with Supabase Auth only; store URL and anon key in .env. - Pages get a "requires sign-in" flag with a redirect target; the runtime checks the session before rendering and exposes `user` to expressions. - Add Sign-in, Sign-up and Sign-out components wired to supabase-js. - Never put the service-role key in the export; the exported server reads it from its own .env. - Update the README with the Supabase row-level security steps.
Add an HTML importer to the visual builder in this folder. Requirements: - `pnpm import-html <file.html> <project> <page>` parses the file with `parse5` and maps headings, paragraphs, images, links, buttons, inputs and div/section nesting to builder components. - Keep class names as a style field, drop scripts and inline event handlers, and list every element it could not map in a report file. - Never fetch remote assets; copy local images into the project's assets folder. - Update the README with what is and isn't mapped.
People who don't write code get real front-ends on top of their own backend, with a visual editor and hosting they don't have to run, and agencies have their own plan tab. The code export makes leaving easier than at most builders, so what people pay for is speed and not having to maintain the plumbing.
Estimate · Static hosting and Supabase's free tier cost nothing for one small app; a small server for the proxy is about $5. The build is several days of token usage on your agent plan.

The Free seat plan gives the full visual editor, 1 million AI tokens a month and cloud deploys that are free up to 1,000 sessions.
Kinda. The core is a weekend build with the prompt on this page, but real gaps remain: A polished drag-and-drop canvas with responsive style tools, WeWeb Cloud: managed database, server functions, backups and scaling.
About $25 a month on the Essential plan per seat, $300 a year (checked 2026-10-19).
A polished drag-and-drop canvas with responsive style tools; WeWeb Cloud: managed database, server functions, backups and scaling; Plugins for services such as Airtable, Notion, Stripe and SQL databases; Team seats, version history and the built-in AI assistant and MCP server; Staging and versioned deploys. If any of those matter to you, keep paying.
