For your own site, the weekly loop is a database of snapshots: authority score, new and lost backlinks, search terms and whether AI answers mention you. An agent can build that in a weekend from Search Console, a backlinks CSV and a few LLM APIs. The gaps are the data. DR comes from a third party, Search Console's links list is a sample without nofollow flags, API answers differ from what ChatGPT or Google show, and the link-exchange side depends on other site owners being in the network. Ahrefs Free already covers verified sites at no cost.
Before you buildTry Ahrefs Free and Search Console first: for sites you own they show backlinks and keywords at no cost, which is most of what Monitor Basic reports.
Build me a weekly site-authority tracker for my own domains to replace VerifiedDR's Monitor plan. Requirements: - Python 3.12 command-line app `authtrack` (typer, httpx, Jinja2), installed with `uv sync`; every run writes history to SQLite (stdlib sqlite3) at ./data/authtrack.db. - Sites: `authtrack add example.com` creates sites/example.com.yaml holding up to 20 search terms and 25 buyer questions; at most 5 domains. - Backlinks: no scraping of other sites. `authtrack import-links <domain> <csv>` reads a backlinks CSV exported by hand from Search Console (Links report, "Latest links") or Ahrefs Free, maps the columns through a `columns:` block in the YAML, stores each referring URL with first-seen and last-seen dates, and prints new and lost links against the previous import. - Authority: `authtrack set-dr <domain> <value>` stores a Domain Rating typed in from a source I trust, with the date. Also compute a clearly labelled LOCAL score from the imported links: referring domains, share marked dofollow when the CSV has that column, and share first seen in the last 30 days. It is not DR and the report must say so. - Search terms: weekly clicks, impressions and average position per term from the Search Console API (`google-api-python-client`, installed-app OAuth, token in ./data/token.json). - AI visibility: ask each buyer question through the OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity APIs (keys in .env, any subset), store the full answer, and flag whether my domain or brand appears in the text or in cited URLs. - `authtrack run` does everything for every site; `authtrack report` writes ./report/index.html (inline SVG sparklines, no JavaScript): DR history, new and lost links, term positions and a visibility table per model. - Alerts: DR down 2 points or more, or 5 or more links lost in a week, prints a line starting ALERT and, when SMTP_URL is set in .env, sends it with `smtplib`. - No accounts, no telemetry, local-first: outbound calls only to Google, the three LLM APIs and SMTP. - Out of scope: link partners, exchanges, directories, computing DR, web crawling, other people's sites. - README: where each CSV comes from, the Google OAuth steps (budget half an hour in the Google Cloud console), a cron line, LLM cost per run, and a note that API answers differ from the chat apps.
Opens your agent with the prompt filled in, you press enter. Or copy it and paste it into an empty folder.
The first prompt builds the core. Run these one at a time in the same folder to grow it into your own VerifiedDR.
Extend the authority tracker in this folder. Requirements: - `authtrack digest` builds a plain-text and HTML email from the last two runs: DR change, new and lost links with their referring domains, and terms that moved more than 3 places. - Send it through the SMTP_URL in .env with `smtplib`; skip sending when nothing changed and print why. - A flag `--dry-run` prints the email to the terminal. - Update the README with a cron line that runs `run` and then `digest` every Monday at 07:00.
Add a link health check to the authority tracker in this folder. Requirements: - `authtrack verify <domain>` fetches every stored referring URL (httpx, 10 at a time, 5 second timeout, one request per host per second) and checks that the page still links to my domain. - Record the HTTP status, the rel attribute (nofollow, sponsored, ugc) and the anchor text with `selectolax`; flag links that turned nofollow or disappeared. - Respect robots.txt and send a User-Agent that names this project and my email from .env. - Update the report with a "lost or changed" table and the README with the politeness limits.
Add a competitor view to the authority tracker in this folder. Requirements: - Allow up to 3 competitor domains per site in the YAML; for them only store what is public: the AI visibility check of the same buyer questions and a typed-in DR. - In the report, show a table of which questions name me, which name each competitor and which name nobody, with the answer text one click away. - Do not crawl or scrape competitor sites. - Update the README and say plainly that competitor backlinks are out of reach without a paid data provider.
Link building is slow, and the pitch is that you see which sites are worth asking and whether a link moved your number. Monitor is the cheap way to watch that; the 90-day programs bundle the outreach. A tracker you build shows your own numbers but not who to ask for a link.
Estimate · Runs on your laptop or a cron job. Search Console is free; 25 questions a week through three LLM APIs cost a few dollars a month at most. The build is token usage on your agent plan.

Kinda. The core is a weekend build with the prompt on this page, but real gaps remain: DR and TrueDR themselves: scores built on third-party link and traffic data you can't compute, Automatic weekly backlink discovery: you re-import CSVs by hand and Search Console shows only a sample.
About $29 a month on the Monitor Basic plan, $348 a year (checked 2026-10-19).
DR and TrueDR themselves: scores built on third-party link and traffic data you can't compute; Automatic weekly backlink discovery: you re-import CSVs by hand and Search Console shows only a sample; Link-exchange matching and submission to directories that VerifiedDR vets; The Trust Map that rates which backlinks carry weight; AI crawler tracking and the CLI, API and MCP access for agents. If any of those matter to you, keep paying.
