The scheduling core is small: a composer, a calendar and a worker that posts on time, which an agent builds in a weekend against open APIs such as Bluesky and Telegram. The hard part is the networks. Meta, TikTok, X and LinkedIn each need your own developer app and, beyond your own accounts, review or paid API access, and an app in development mode only acts for accounts with a role on it. A personal build usually covers three or four networks; PostFast's eleven, with approvals already held, is what you pay for.
Before you buildPostFast has no free plan, but Postiz self-hosted is free if you already run a server.
Build me a personal social post scheduler to replace PostFast. Requirements: - Node.js 22 + TypeScript: a Fastify API, a React UI built with Vite and a worker loop in the same process. `npm start` serves http://localhost:4870. - Storage: better-sqlite3 in ./data/posts.db: accounts (network, name, access token encrypted with libsodium `crypto_secretbox`, key in .env), posts (text, media paths, scheduled_at in UTC, status: draft, scheduled, publishing, published or failed) and one result row per account (URL or error). - Networks: one adapter per file behind a `Publisher` interface with `validate()` and `publish()`. Start with Bluesky (`@atproto/api`, app password), Telegram (Bot API), LinkedIn (own developer app, `w_member_social`), X (API v2, own keys) and Threads (Meta Graph API, own app in development mode). - Composer: one text box with per-network character counters and previews, per-account overrides, image and video upload checked against each network's limits (`ffprobe` for size and duration), drafts, and a month calendar (`@fullcalendar/react`) where dragging a post reschedules it. - Worker: every 30 seconds publish due posts, one account at a time, with 3 retries and exponential backoff. Claim a post in a single SQL transaction so it is never published twice; a failure on one account doesn't block the others. - Limits: `config.json` holds per-network daily caps; refuse to schedule past a cap. - API: `POST /api/posts` and `GET /api/posts?status=` with a bearer token from .env, for scripts and agents. - Single user, one password in .env. No telemetry, local-first; outbound calls go only to the networks. - Out of scope: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, analytics, a social inbox, approvals, teams, mobile. - README: where to create the developer app and token for each network and which permissions to ask for, a warning that X's API terms change and that Meta apps in development mode only act for accounts with a role on the app, and a note that the machine must be on at post time (or run it on a VPS).
Opens your agent with the prompt filled in, you press enter. Or copy it and paste it into an empty folder.
The first prompt builds the core. Run these one at a time in the same folder to grow it into your own PostFast.
Extend the scheduler in this folder with a Meta adapter. Requirements: - Publish single images, carousels and Reels to an Instagram professional account and text or photo posts to a Facebook Page through the Graph API, using my own Meta app. - Use the two-step container flow for Instagram, poll the container status until it is FINISHED and give up after 10 minutes with a clear error. - Refresh long-lived tokens 7 days before they expire and show "reconnect" in the UI when refresh fails. - Update the README with the app type, permissions and the development-mode limit.
Add a variants feature to the scheduler in this folder. Requirements: - A post has one base text and optional per-account overrides; the UI shows the final text and character count for each account side by side. - A "shorten for X" button asks an LLM (key in .env) for a version within the limit and shows it as a diff to accept; never post an AI version without my click. - Store which variant went to which account in the result rows. - Update the README.
Add a timing report to the scheduler in this folder. Requirements: - Pull per-post engagement where the network's API exposes it (likes, replies, reposts) and store it daily for 14 days after publishing. - Show a 7x24 heatmap of average engagement by weekday and hour in my time zone, with the number of posts behind each cell and cells under 3 posts greyed out. - Suggest the best three free slots in the next week on the calendar. - Update the README with which networks supply which numbers.
A scheduler is a promise that a post goes out at the right minute on networks whose APIs and rules keep changing. PostFast holds the developer approvals and keeps up with each network, so the calendar works on day one, and at €12 for four accounts it is cheap enough that building your own only pays if you want something specific.
Estimate · Runs on your machine or a $5 VPS. Some networks charge for API access, so check each one before you commit. The build is token usage on your agent plan.

Kinda. The core is a weekend build with the prompt on this page, but real gaps remain: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook Pages and Google Business Profile posting, Analytics, white-label PDF reports and the shared social inbox with approvals.
About $12 a month on the Starter (priced in euros) plan, $144 a year (checked 2026-10-19).
TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook Pages and Google Business Profile posting; Analytics, white-label PDF reports and the shared social inbox with approvals; iOS and Android apps; Automatic video conversion to each network's spec; Canva, Dropbox and Google Drive integrations. If any of those matter to you, keep paying.
