Nsketch doesn't train the models it sells: it routes your prompt to image, video and voice models from other labs and bills the result in credits. A personal front end on a pay-per-use API such as fal.ai is a weekend of work: a form per model, a job queue, a gallery that keeps results and a monthly spend guard. What stays behind is the bundle: a hundred-plus models behind one balance, ready-made trend templates, voice cloning and lip sync, and a flat monthly price. Whether you save money depends on volume, since video generations are expensive per clip. We found only vendor pages and almost no user reviews for this one.
Before you buildNsketch lets you try image generation free. Run a few of your usual prompts there and price the same work on the provider's API before building.
Build me a local AI image and video studio on pay-per-use APIs to replace Nsketch AI. Requirements:
- Node.js 22 + TypeScript: a Fastify server and a React UI built with Vite. `npm start` serves
http://127.0.0.1:4950.
- Provider: fal.ai through `@fal-ai/client`, with FAL_KEY in .env. Models live in ./models.yaml
(id, label, kind image / video / upscale, input fields with types and defaults, estimated cost
per run); the form is generated from that file, so adding a model is a YAML edit. Ship one
text-to-image, one image-to-video and one upscaler entry that you verify against fal.ai's
current model pages.
- Jobs: submit through the queue API, subscribe to status and logs, show progress, allow cancel,
run at most MAX_CONCURRENT jobs (default 2). A failed job keeps its error and can be re-run.
- Storage: better-sqlite3 in ./data/studio.db: jobs (model, inputs JSON, status, estimated cost,
times), assets (kind, path, prompt, seed, parent job) and an FTS5 index over prompts. Download
results at once to ./data/assets/YYYY-MM/ because provider URLs expire.
- Generate page: prompt box, model picker, aspect and count controls, reference image upload for
edit and image-to-video, a seed with a random option, "reuse settings" from any asset, and saved
prompts with {{placeholders}} that fill the form.
- Gallery: infinite-scroll grid, prompt search, favourites, delete to ./data/trash/, two-image
compare and original download.
- Spend guard: MONTHLY_BUDGET in .env; show each job's estimated cost before it runs and the
month's running total, and refuse a job that would pass the budget.
- Single user. No accounts, no telemetry, local-first: only fal.ai receives prompts and uploads.
- Out of scope: voice cloning, lip sync, motion transfer, virtual try-on, team sharing, payments.
- README: getting a fal key, why estimated costs can differ from the invoice, that each model has
its own commercial-use terms, and backing up ./data.Opens your agent with the prompt filled in, you press enter. Or copy it and paste it into an empty folder.
The first prompt builds the core. Run these one at a time in the same folder to grow it into your own Nsketch AI.
Extend the AI studio in this folder. Requirements: - Upload a CSV with one prompt per row and optional columns for model, aspect, seed and reference image path. - Show the total estimated cost and number of jobs, and require a confirm click before queueing. - Run rows through the existing queue; failures don't stop the batch and are listed at the end. - Group the results in a gallery collection named after the CSV and its run date. - Update the README.
Add a compare mode to the AI studio in this folder. Requirements: - Pick up to four models of the same kind and send one prompt and seed to all of them. - Show the results in a grid with each model's name, time taken and estimated cost. - Let me mark a winner and keep the rest in a collapsed group tied to the same prompt. - Respect the monthly budget guard before submitting. - Update the README.
Add local image tools to the AI studio in this folder. Requirements: - Crop, resize and convert to WebP or JPEG with `sharp`, with a before and after preview. - Remove a background with the `@imgly/background-removal-node` package, running fully offline. - Save results as child assets linked to the original, never replacing it. - Add tests with two sample images. - Update the README.
Creators want to try the newest model the week it ships without opening an account with each lab. A flat plan turns a stack of API pricing pages into one bill, and trend templates give a result from a photo without writing a prompt.
Estimate · Pay-per-use: cost follows how many images and clips you make and with which models; a month heavy on video can pass the $17 plan, a light month costs a few dollars. The build is token usage on your agent plan.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual, per month | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $17 | $11 | 600 credits a month, about 75 Nano Banana 2 images or 30 Veo 3.1 Lite videos, 2 concurrent generations, standard queue, image editing, upscaler, voice and TTS time (about 1 hour 5 minutes), commercial use. |
| Pro | $49 | $33 | 2,000 credits a month, about 250 Nano Banana 2 images or 100 Veo 3.1 Lite videos, 6 concurrent generations, fast queue, about 4 hours 10 minutes of voice and TTS. |
| Max | $99 | $67 | 4,200 credits a month, about 525 Nano Banana 2 images or 210 Veo 3.1 Lite videos, 8 concurrent generations, fastest queue. |
The site says a free tier exists and invites you to generate a free image; the pricing page lists no free allowance.
Kinda. The core is a weekend build with the prompt on this page, but real gaps remain: A single balance across a hundred-plus models from different labs, Keshin motion-transfer templates and the trend template library.
About $17 a month on the Starter plan, $204 a year (checked 2026-10-19).
A single balance across a hundred-plus models from different labs; Keshin motion-transfer templates and the trend template library; Voice cloning, lip sync and the virtual try-on tools; Queue priority and concurrency tuned per plan; Predictable monthly cost: pay-per-use bills vary with every clip. If any of those matter to you, keep paying.
