A feed, spaces, events, a course player and Stripe checkout are ordinary web code, and an agent can scaffold a working community for one group in a weekend. The gaps are the things members expect without thinking about them: apps on their phones with push notifications, live streams that hold hundreds of viewers, email that lands in inboxes, and payments with refunds and tax edge cases handled. You also become the operator of member data, which means backups and privacy requests are yours. It fits a small paid group on the web; it does not replace a community business that depends on the app stores.
Before you buildMighty's trial runs on the Growth plan, so try it first. For a small group that only needs discussion, Discourse or NodeBB cost a server and no per-month platform fee.
Build me a members community to replace Mighty Networks for my own group. Requirements: - Node.js 22 + TypeScript: Fastify with server-rendered pages (Eta) and htmx for posts, comments and reactions. `npm start` serves http://localhost:4400. Add a web manifest and service worker so it installs on a phone. - Storage: better-sqlite3 in ./data/community.db, uploads in ./data/uploads (images and PDFs, 10 MB limit, type checked with `file-type`). Tables for members, spaces, posts, comments, reactions, events, RSVPs, courses, lessons, progress, plans and subscriptions. - Sign-in: email magic links through nodemailer SMTP (SMTP_URL in .env), signed httpOnly cookie. The first account is the owner; roles are owner, moderator and member. - Spaces: public, members-only or limited to one plan. Each is a feed with markdown posts (`sanitize-html`), threaded comments, reactions and pinning. Members can report a post; moderators can hide it or ban the member. - Events: time shown in each viewer's timezone (`luxon`), a join link, RSVP and a per-member .ics feed (`ics`). Live streaming is out of scope: link to Zoom or YouTube. - Courses: modules and lessons (markdown plus a video URL embed), a mark-complete button, per-member progress, and lessons that unlock a set number of days after joining. - Payments: Stripe Checkout (`stripe`) for monthly and yearly plans and one-off course access. A webhook with the signature checked (STRIPE_WEBHOOK_SECRET in .env) grants and revokes access. Start in Stripe test mode and require an explicit .env flag to go live. - Notifications: one daily digest email of new posts in followed spaces, with one-click unsubscribe. - Admin: member list with CSV export, plan assignment, and a per-member data export for GDPR requests. - No telemetry, local-first. Outbound calls: SMTP and Stripe only. - Out of scope: native iOS and Android apps, live streaming, custom domains, automations, AI features. - README: HTTPS through a tunnel or small VPS, SPF and DKIM for the sending domain, backing up ./data, and a note that the owner is the data controller for member data.
Opens your agent with the prompt filled in, you press enter. Or copy it and paste it into an empty folder.
The first prompt builds the core. Run these one at a time in the same folder to grow it into your own Mighty Networks.
Add a Mighty Networks importer to the community in this folder. Requirements: - A command `community import-mighty <member-list.xlsx> [plan-list.xlsx ...]` using `exceljs`. - Create members from the main list (name, email, join date, tags), keep existing members unchanged, and print counts of created, skipped and invalid rows before writing. - Map each plan member list to a plan here; paying members get access but no Stripe subscription, and a report lists who must re-subscribe. - Send no email on import; a separate `community invite` command sends sign-in links in batches of 50 with a 10-second pause. - Update the README with the three download steps in Mighty's admin.
Add web push to the community in this folder. Requirements: - Use the Web Push protocol with `web-push` and VAPID keys generated into .env on first run. - A member can subscribe from a settings page; store subscriptions per device and remove those that return 404 or 410. - Send a push for replies to my comments, mentions and events starting in an hour, and never more than 5 per member per day. - Notifications link to the exact post or event; a per-type toggle in settings. - Update the README with the iOS limitation that the site must be added to the home screen.
Add applications to the community in this folder. Requirements: - A space can require an application: up to 5 custom questions, answered before checkout. - The owner sees pending applications, approves or rejects with a note, and approval sends a Stripe Checkout link valid for 7 days. - Rejected applicants get a polite email and cannot reapply for 30 days. - Store answers with the member record and include them in the admin CSV. - Update the README.
People pay for a finished community business in one place: members, courses, events, payments and apps, with a team that migrates you in on the Growth plan and above. The monthly price is small next to a membership that earns money, and a home-built version leaves payments, email delivery and member support with the owner.
Estimate · A small VPS is about $5 to $10 a month; transactional email is free at small volume. Stripe charges its own processing fees. Video hosted on YouTube or Vimeo avoids storage costs. The build is token usage on your agent plan.

Kinda. The core is a weekend build with the prompt on this page, but real gaps remain: Mighty's iOS and Android apps, with push notifications for your members, Live streaming for hundreds of viewers, and the storage for recordings and course video.
About $95 a month on the Launch plan, $1,140 a year (checked 2026-10-19).
Mighty's iOS and Android apps, with push notifications for your members; Live streaming for hundreds of viewers, and the storage for recordings and course video; Payments with tiers, installments, promo codes and many currencies handled for you; AI Cohost, automated questions and the automations that nudge quiet members; SOC 2 Type II compliance and a security portal for customers who ask for one. If any of those matter to you, keep paying.
Yes: Discourse (open source), NodeBB (open source), Flarum (open source).
